Position overview
Oliver Wyman, a global leader in management consulting and a business of Marsh McLennan, is seeking a dynamic and seasoned professional to serve as the Region Chief People Officer (RCPO) for our Americas region. This is a key leadership role that will oversee the entirety of the Human Capital (HC) function in the Americas, driving the region's strategic people agenda and delivering a best-in-class talent value proposition and experience for our colleagues.
As the RCPO, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing a more effective and efficient HC operating model, providing creative and insightful solutions to critical HC matters, and developing and executing an ambitious regional people strategy. You will lead a large and diverse team of HC professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and collaborating closely with global HC teams to ensure the region's needs are met.
To excel in this role, you should have a proven track record of building diverse and high-performing teams, preferably in professional services industries. You should be an innovative, results-oriented, and data-driven leader with a passion for people. Your ability to develop clear and compelling strategies aligned to business objectives, serve as an advisor/challenger to senior executives, and demonstrate an operator mindset will be crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entirety of the HC ecosystem in the region, including talent attraction and recruiting, onboarding and integration, talent development and staffing, performance management, inclusion, diversity, and belonging, colleague engagement and wellbeing, HC operations, employee relations, and exits.
- Develop and execute an ambitious and achievable regional people strategy aligned to regional strategy and business objectives.
- Shape and implement a more effective and efficient HC operating model, delivering strategic business partnership, operational excellence, efficiency and scalability, seamless collaboration, clarity for colleagues, and increased capabilities within HC.
- Lead the regional HC team, managing a large and diverse group of HC professionals, fostering a high-performance culture, and collaborating closely with global HC teams.
- Serve as the "voice of the Americas HC" in various contexts, acting as a strategic business partner, advisor, and challenger to regional leadership, and communicating regularly to all colleagues in the region.
- Provide strategic steer across various people-related topics/initiatives, including advising on workforce planning, challenging and approving decisions around hiring and promotions, ensuring compliance with employment law/regulation, and fostering inclusion, diversity, and belonging.
Pivotal Experience, Skills, & Attributes:
- Cross-functional HC expertise, including talent acquisition, talent management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, inclusion, diversity, and belonging, and HR operations.
- Proven ability to shape and drive strategic initiatives at the executive level, with exceptional communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience optimizing operations and building a team that delivers excellent client service, with expertise in change management and business acumen.
- Professional services background, ideally in a consulting firm, with significant understanding of HC-related issues and/or a network of HC peers in professional services firms.
- Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and analytics to make evidence-based decisions and develop innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to foster relationships across an organization, optimize for multiple parties' interests, and keep organization-wide goals and strategy at the forefront.
- People-centric and development-focused, with a track record of caring passionately about people's development and being a strong mentor/sponsor.
- Demonstrated ability to drive impact, galvanize teams, and create measurable results and improvements.
- Inspiring and inclusive leadership, with emotional intelligence, authenticity, empathy, and the ability to relate to different audiences and situations.
- Superior communication skills, with the ability to interact with and present to all audiences, including executives and senior partners.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $300,000 to $400,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
